Your Journal, Your Words
At Lantern & Sky, we believe a journal should be a sacred space for reflection. Your thoughts, dreams, questions, memories, and personal insights belong to you. Our goal is to create a place where you can write honestly, knowing your words are treated with care and respect.
Using the Journal Without an Account
The Lantern Journal is yours alone.
When you write in the journal without creating an account, your entries are stored only in your browser on your device. They are not sent to Lantern & Sky, are not stored on our servers, and cannot be viewed by the founder, the platform used to build the app, or any AI tools used to maintain it.
Because your journal remains on your device, it is completely private to you.
Please be aware that browser-based storage has limitations. If you clear your browser cache, delete your browsing data, switch browsers, replace your device, or reset your device, your journal entries may be permanently lost. Lantern & Sky cannot recover them because we never receive or store them.
This is the nature of browser-only storage, and it is also what makes it so private.
Member Journal Encryption Coming Soon
We are currently building an encrypted journal experience for Lantern & Sky members.
Our goal is to encrypt journal entries on your device before they are stored, helping ensure that your personal writings remain private and accessible only to you. When this feature becomes available, we will provide detailed information about how the encryption works and what level of privacy and protection it provides.
Because privacy is important to us, we are taking the time to implement this feature thoughtfully rather than rushing it into production.
Please note that highly secure encryption systems often involve tradeoffs. Depending on the final implementation, lost passwords may result in the permanent loss of access to encrypted journal entries. We will clearly explain any such limitations before the feature is released.
Our Commitment
Lantern & Sky was created to support reflection, mindfulness, and personal growth. We are committed to collecting as little personal information as possible, being transparent about how data is stored, and giving you meaningful control over your own words and experiences.
Your journal belongs to you.
Always.
